Basic Boat Maintenance to Keep Your Boat Pristine

Every boat owner knows that owning a boat does require a bit of maintenance in order to keep everything working properly - and it's worth every minute! Not only will proper maintenance ensure that you get to enjoy your boat longer, but it will also help limit unexpected incidences on the water. At Village Marina, we can help you keep your boat well maintained through our marine service department at the Lake of the Ozarks, but that will still require some effort on your part. Here are a few things you can do to keep your boat pristine!


Protect the Coat

Cobalt boats are coated in a high-quality gel coat. This finish is a great asset, but you still need to maintain it to keep it looking shiny and beautiful. You will need to wax and polish your boat to keep the gel coat maintained properly - and wax & polish are not the same. Wax is designed to protect and seal your gel coat, keeping it safe from water, dirt, sun, and other damaging forces of nature. While polish helps minimize the oxidation on your gel coat.

Caring for the Upholstery

Cobalt spares no expense in installing the best upholstery on your boat. Because of this, you'll want to make sure and not only care for it but use only the best quality cleaners. Using the wrong cleaner, or something harsh can be detrimental to the quality of your upholstery. If all else fails, simple soap and water should do the trick. Keep in mind though, that you can always bring your boat out to Village Marina and we'll get it cared for.


Maintaining the Engine

Cobalt Boats only uses the best to create your engine, and because of that, you need to make sure that all of the fluids are kept at proper levels and that the engine is inspected regularly to keep everything in tip top condition. As we approach the end of the summer, you'll also have to remember to schedule your boat to be winterized - and Village Marina would love to help.
