Shootout 2017 at the Lake of the Ozarks

Looking for a fun event this weekend to get the boat out for? This weekend is the BIG Shootout weekend, and we couldn't be more excited to share all of the details with you. At Village Marina, we love to keep you updated on local lake happenings as well as give you a good excuse to get the boat out and enjoy a day on the water (as if you really needed one!). Keep in mind that if you DO go out this weekend, the no wake zones have been extended, so do you research and be sure to be respectful on the water. Here are a few other fun things you'll need to know about before having a great weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks!

About The Shootout

This is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the US and named one of the nation's eight "must-see" boating events according to the Powerboat Magazine. This year, the Shootout will take place for the NINTH year at Captain Ron's Bar & Grill in Sunrise Beach. The event is well loved and helps raise funds for the eight Lake-area rescue teams and numerous other charitable organizations. Last year they were able to donate $195,000.00 to 34 different charities and Fire Departments. The Shootout is going to add another successful year to it's belt this year making it the TWENTY-NINTH year this weekend!

Shootout Disclaimer

To all spectators coming to the shootout by water: please note that our normal no-wake zone runs from the 31 mile marker to the 36 mile marker from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26th and 27th. This year on Saturday, August 26th, the no-wake zone will be extended to the 24 mile marker from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please observe the established no-wake zone, but on Saturday, also the extended no-wake zone. Our goal has always been to continue to have one of the safest events on the water and to protect not only the participants and spectators, but also the local residents. Please help us in accomplishing this goal.
