7 Tips to Fuel Your Boat Safely

We have one of the only 24 hour gas docks at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we are so glad to serve you while on your fun Lake adventure! Our dock is fully serviced with with food, drinks and tube rentals. Before you enjoy your weekend on the water, here are a few safety tips to remember when filling your gas tank!

1. No matter where you are refueling, always clear the area of people who are not directly involved with fueling the boat.

2. Put out all smoking materials and extinguish all open flames.

3. Be sure to secure your boat to the dock, and turn off the engine and all electronics.

4. Keep the nozzle in contact with the edge of the fill to prevent build up of static electricity to prevent sparking.

5. Do not top off your tank. Know how much fuel your tank holds and fill it to about 90%, since fuel expands as temperatures rise.

6. Clean up fuel spills immediately with an oil-only absorbent pad. Wipe down the bilge or any interior parts that many have come in contact with fuel.

7. Treat your fueling operations with care. Never use hands-free clips, and avoid any distractions while fueling.
